Background
Tom has 34 years of higher education experience in
the field of accounting. His specialization has largely
been financial accounting and cost accounting. Under the
sponsorship of the Internal Revenue Service, he has also
administered the Purdue North Central Volunteer
income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for five years.
Other experience in the personal income tax area
includes several years of part-time experience with a
commercial tax preparation firm. He also has an interest
in pension accounting, and had significant involvement
in documenting and facilitating reporting for a higher
education pension program. Tom began his teaching career
as a high school band director and developed many highly
rated competitive groups. He extensively adjudicated
district and state music festivals for the Michigan
School Band and Orchestra Association for a period of 26
years. He has also taught a wide range of business and
computer programming classes at the high school level.

Based on his academic record, the fields of financial
and cost accounting are his main expertise. He also has
significant personal income tax training and experience.
