Assessment to Improve Student Learning

While there are many definitions of assessment within higher education, Purdue North Central places the focus on assessment for improvement of students' learning.  PNC actively uses assessment results to enhance the overall quality of a students' experience.

In 2008, PNC adopted a model of assessment that summarizes the major steps in reviewing data for the purpose of making improvements.

PNC Assessment Model

Purdue North Central has been actively growing in course, program, and institutional assessment efforts.  The Assessment Steering Committee of the Faculty Senate has been active by joining the HLC academy for the assessment of student learning and through the adoption of a uniform electronic submission of reporting assessment data for all academic programs (see BALOTS). The Director of Accreditation and Assessment also is very involved in coordinating efforts in assessment. Check out the Accreditation website for more information.
