You’ll find that PNC is a veteran friendly campus.
We know that veterans and current service members face unique challeng•es and each person’s situation is different. At PNC we see you as an individual and will work with you to ensure that your education suits you and your career aspirations.
At PNC we are committed to providing personalized student services. Your success is important to us. Priority Registration Recognizing your service to country and the unique challenges that you may face as a result, PNC offers veterans and service members the opportunity to register for courses at the earliest possible date. Veterans and service members are eligible to register, along with graduating seniors, at the opening of registration.
Fee Deferment
The Bursar’s Office automatically puts a fee deferment in place for registered students certified as eligible for GI Bill educational benefits. This allows for additional time for these educational benefits to be applied to tuition and fees without worry of hav•ing class registration canceled if the GI Bill has not yet paid to a student’s tuition and fee statement prior to the start of the academic semester. Set Up a Campus Tour You and your family members are welcome to visit PNC to see all that we have to offer. Chances are, you’ll have plenty of questions. That’s why you may choose to take a campus tour with a veteran who is a member of our PNC veterans organization. You can hear first-hand about a fellow veteran’s experience at PNC and ask questions about student and campus life. To schedule a veteran to veteran tour visit www.pnc.edu/admissions/
Campus Activities
Veterans and active service members are encouraged to get involved in the many clubs and activities on campus. In turn, PNC offers a variety of activities and opportunities that are of specific interest to veterans and that help others on cam•pus become more aware of our veterans and their contributions.
PNC hosts an annual Veterans Day ceremony and declares April as Veterans Awareness Month featuring guest speakers addressing a variety of veteran’s issues. Each academic year, PNC will plan additional activities of interest to veterans, the campus and surrounding community.
Veteran’s Office on Campus A U.S. Veterans Affairs representative from the Vet Center of Northwest Indiana has scheduled office hours by appointment in the Dean of Students Office in the Library-Student-Faculty Building Room 103. The VA representative will provide a variety of services to all veterans and their families and make referrals to community agencies, and employment counseling and job referral.
PNC Veterans
The Veterans organization was established to provide veteran-to-veteran support during the transition from military life to university life. The organization partners with PNC and the community to provide veterans with a forum to get together in an informal setting to network, make friends and support one another as students and as veterans. Membership includes men and women who represent all branches of the military, from current active members to VietNam-era veterans and from all walks of life. One of the popular events sponsored by the PNC Veterans organization is an annual Labor Day fundraiser.
