Graduate & Extended Learning Summer Opportunites

The Graduate & Extended Learning Office at Purdue University North Central offers a fantastic service to students and graduates, giving them the opportunity to take extra-curricular courses that have a tangible real-world benefit. This Summer the GEL Office will be hosting several programs that will teach career-building skills for use in making graduates and soon-to-be graduates more marketable in the future.

Video Editing Boot Camps

The Video Editing Boot Camps are designed to teach about how to display stories, milestones, information and memories in a meaningful way through the use of recording and editing video.Video-Editing-Website-Photo-smaller-1024x685

This program is held over the course of four days during the week of May the 12th:

  • Monday, May 12th
  • Tuesday, May 13th
  • Wednesday, May 14th
  • Thursday, May 15th

All four classes are offered during two different time blocks each day at either 3:00P.M. to 5:00P.M. or 6:00P.M. to 8:00P.M.

Social Media Marketing Workshop

The Social Media Marketing Workshop is a course that will cover the ins and outs of social media and how it can be applied to finding and landing a job as well as how businesses effectively employ social media to benefit their business. This is a twelve hour program that is held over the course of six weeks every Thursday on the following dates:

  •  May 22nd
  •  May 29th
  • June 5th
  • June 12th
  • June 19th
  • June 26th

All six classes will are scheduled for 3:00P.M. to 5:00P.M.

Microsoft Excel 2013 Workshop Series

The Microsoft Excel 2013 Workshop is for the beginner and intermediate users of Microsoft Excel. A lot of employers are now assuming that employees have a working understanding of Microsoft Office and how it functions. This workshop will give you a deeper understanding of how to increase your productivity with Excel by explaining features such as formulas, charts, functions and much more.IMG_3661-1024x768

This is an eight hour program that is held over the course of two weeks on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, June 10
  • Thursday, June 12
  • Tuesday, June 17
  • Thursday, June 19

All four classes are scheduled for 5:30 P.M until 7:30 P.M.

Smoky Mountain Travel Study Program

The Great Smoky Mountains offers a wonderful opportunity for students and graduates to experience the rich and exciting ecosystem in the Southern Appalachians. Attendants will have the chance to explore the wildlife, plant life, geology, and environmental concepts that are specifically unique to the Smoky Mountains and learn how all of these systems work with one another to create such a breathtaking scene.320257_10150282066291440_7609653_n-225x300

This study program lasts from August 3rd through August 9th and will give students credit in either BIOL 324 or BIOL 288.
