PNC Assessment Test

To determine if you will need the PNC assessment test, check your admissions letter. Your Advisor maybe also recommend part or all of the assessment. Check here for assessment days and times. To make an appointment to take the assessment on a day other than the scheduled times, call (219) 785-5326.

Foreign Language Placement Tests

Everyone taking a foreign language class needs to read the following:

  1. If you already have background knowledge of French, German, or Spanish and you
wish to take a class higher than the beginning level, you must take the placement test.
  2. If you have had two years or more of one of these languages in high school, you may
not take the first semester course in that language. Therefore, you must take the
    placement test.
  3. If you don’t have a background in a foreign language, you will register for the first
level and do not need the test.

Tests may be taken only once per language. No fee is required. All placement tests will take place in the Modern Languages Lab, TECH 359, by appointment only. Appointments are necessary because of limited seating capacity. Appointments must be made by phoning extension 5683, TECH 359, for the dates and times listed. If you get a voicemail response, please leave your name, your phone number, the date and time you wish to schedule your placement test, and what language test you wish to take. You will be contacted only if your request cannot be accommodated.

Modern Languages Lab Hours
Closed through June and July; except for scheduled testing dates listed above.
Re-open for fall semester: August 24
