First-Year Experience - History

First-Year Experience Links

FYE was developed in the summer of 2008 by a team of faculty from a wide variety of disciplines.  The course gradually took shape around a series of questions, about the nature of education, the meaning of “prosperity” and “happiness” in the twenty-first century, and the way different academic disciplines register change.

The PNC first-year experience pilot program began in the spring of 2009 with three sections taught by professors from the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Science, and the College of Engineering and Technology.

In the fall of 2009 the program was expanded to 80 students and six sections.

In the fall of 2010 the program has 125 students and eight sections.
