The South Shore Line is available for those who prefer mass transit, making regular weekday and weekend trips from Chicago to South Bend, with two stations in Michigan City.

A preferred destination for shoppers, the county offers Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets, which boasts more than 100 designer outlets. Plus LaPorte County visitors will also find a variety of unique boutiques, coffee houses, and eateries, including Kelly's Table and Maxine’s Restaurant, which features live jazz on weekend nights, and an extensive selection of antique shops that line the City of LaPorte's main street, Lincolnway.
